2010! Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!

My first post for the new year.
I have big plans for myself this year. And I can't do them without you. I've tried doing this alone for 34 years now and I'm not where I dreamed I would be. So New Year's resolution #1: Surround myself with love and support. It's the key to success.
My first shoot for January will be one of my sweetest friends, Melissa. She and her husband have been on an 8 month journey and is about to welcome Their baby girl "E" in February. I am so honored and excited to capture these precious memories for them. They truly deserve the very best in life.
I will post images soon.

Happy Birthday to me! In honor of turning another year older, I treated myself to a juicy new lens! Those of you who know me well know that since I've been a mommy, Ive not been the self-spoiling gal I once was. But it was time.. time for me! So arriving today is my creamy new Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D IF and Hoya HMC Super multicoated UV filter as well as a sturdy new Lowepro case (not that it will ever get used much, I have a feeling this 85 won't be leaving my camera much).

Sticking to what works.. Should be easy to do right? Wrong-O. Well, not for me anyway. A very wise photographer put it to me in very simple to understand non-logic.
Photographers will almost always quit doing what works for them in search of something else. It's their creative nature.

For example, I used to be really into macro photography. And I was great at it. And it was fun. Then somewhere along the way I must have interpreted it as a "job" and no longer new and exciting, so guess what.. I stopped. So with years of this happening in my photography, from commercial to landscapes to fashion, one area has always been there - children. I'm not going to say that I wish I would not have ventured into those other areas, because I don't. I'm a better photographer for having done it. I have a wide range of knowledge and experience from my years bouncing around. But now it's time to get serious. It's time for me to set my focus. I have some mighty big goals for myself that I'm sure I'll share along the way as I'm trying to accomplish them.
So welcome to my photog blog.
